Frequently Asked Questions

Que. - Once I sign up am I under any obligation?
Ans. - NO. You can order one month and then not the next. Simply order by the due date if you want a box. If you regularly order a box it would be a nice courtesy to let the site coordinator know if you are not ordering one.

Que. - Can I customize my order?
Ans. - NO. Items are bought in bulk. When you order a box, you receive whatever the program coordinator can purchase at good quality, good price and if possible, locally or Ontario grown. If you do not like certain items, consider trading them with a fellow customer at your drop site.

However we do encourage customers to share their preferences on the customer feedback form which is sent with each box every month. The program coordinator always reads these and tries to accommodate prevailing customer preferences.

Que. - Are the items all organic?
Ans. - NO. If we have organic items in the box we will let you know about them in the newsletter in your box. We purchase locally grown organic produce when it is available at a reasonable price and if it is of good quality. We have local organic farmers on our supplier list. Our intent is simply to allow the residents of Halton region increased access to fresh fruits and vegetables and support all local farmers.

Que. - Will I save money?
Ans. - YES. We buy in bulk and directly from farmers and local distributors. So we get a good price.

Que. - Do I have to pay in advance?
Ans. - YES. You must pay in advance because the money you pay goes directly to the farmer or supplier on the day of delivery. We work on a money-in, money-out system with no reserves as we are non-profit.
